What’s NotreBlog?

The idea behind NotreBlog is to provide a virtual space for children to share their ideas and opinions on a variety of issues.

The advantage of NotreBlog is that unlike email, children only need one address to send their comments to and then everyone can read them.  It is also much easier for teachers to moderate as they can read comments before they go live on the internet.

How to write a good comment
I’ve found that if students write directly into the comment box the quality of their ideas and spelling isn’t always as good as it could be.  I’ve found that it is better for them to do the following:
Type the phrases in a word processor
Spell check the phrases
Get another student to read the phrases and comment on if they make sense or not
Then paste the phrases into the comment box in notreblog
It is good to remind students that they should try not to use slang or textease as children from other countries will be trying to read what they say.
Please also explain that the teachers moderating their comments have the right to delete or refine what they write.  Any inappropriate comments get deleted straight away.

What do you think?
If you have any ideas on how to use NotreBlog, please put a comment on this page (click comment link below).

My Writing and Research class just finished their Global Issue Term Paper for class. They would be interested in discussing their specific topics with students from around the world. How do we start a thread that distinguishes their topics from the general category of global issues?
