I think that news plays a very important role in our lives ,but half truths are always dangerous. The fact that the media sometimes exaggerates the truth and doesn`t tell the whole story is dangerous.
Media however plays a positive role. It highlights various topics such as Global Warming and awakens people to take steps in contrast of the issue. Many homes in India nowadays are replacing ordinary bulbs with CFL bulbs and using eco-friendly CNG gas for various purposes. It is due to awareness created by media. Majority of the Indians were made aware of UN Development goals and the need to gear up in order to achieve them by 2015.

Media highly influences our thoughts and our views towards society. In today's world people believe what media says is the only truth. We start feeling that we are well informed about the global issues ,but actually media's stories are biased slant and give us only one side of the story. We think that the media should focus on both sides of the story and should not exaggerate the actual truth. Therefore, we should not directly believe what media says and should try to find out the real story.

There are newspapers and newspapers , each trying to project themselves as opinion formers .
It is very rare to find newspapers which report factually . Sometimes biased reporting on ethnic issues has led to issues of riots in Bombay recently . Biased reporting by the media leads to many miscommunications among the people , specially in a country like India which is highly religious , multi - cultural and multi - lingual .
Global issues like poverty , illiteracy , global warming sex ratio, etc are addressed by the media which help in arousing human sympathy , awareness and concern towards such global issues . Also cases like that of Jessica Lal in which the rich scion of a politician was punished for commiting murder due to a public campaign led by a newspaper .

These incomplete stories which are told by the
media do not give a clear picture about the concerned issues or topics. The media also comes out with stories which are completely different from the incident which has occured. Some papers are mere tabloids dealing with gossip, film news, catalogues for big business houses etc. The newspapers are also full of advertisements which promote consumerism of goods and services. The focus of the media is mainly on the posh lifestyle of the movie and the sports celebrities and not on important developments around the world except for natural disasters.

I feel that the media plays an important role in informing an average or a common man about the daily events around the world.Media nowdays has a lot of power to shape public opinion.for eg-in the Narmada project -(hydel project)deforestation, shifting of villagers etc, were displayed by our newspapers. Many indians today because of the media are celebrating vanmahotsav i.e planting of saplings to increase the forest cover.

Media can have a negative as well as a positive response on today's society. The Media enlightens the peope on issues which they do not know are happening. However,Biased reporting can lead to people's views being tarnished by the false stories spread by indivisduals who are just looking for a new way to get their 15 seconds of fame. This is true in case of politicians who want to win their votes by Hook and Crook as well as spreading false stories about prominent filmstars, singers, and such sort of celebrities. This hampers the celebrities' privacy as well as ruining their so-called 'image' in front of the public. The media is highly influential into getting the public to believe whatever they want them to believe, either that ,or just that the public is too gullible. But there is a positive side to the media as well, which is spreading awareness about global issues.Technological advancements have enabled the media to make the people aware about things happening halfway around the world, such as a person sitting in South-Asia can know about hurricanes in North America by just switching on his T.v. .Constant Media exposure has also led to the discovery of various talents of people which may be useful or harmful to our society. However, people should not take the media as an excuse to waste time, but as a platform to display productivity.People should know better than to trust anything the media says and trust their own common sense. The media needs to be responsible and concentrate on issues which affect the world, and not those like the plastic surgeries of various celebrities which mislead people.

I think that i am well informed about today's global issues, mainly because I watch the news, I think this is the the best form of Media, as I believe that it has the most truth behind it, whereas newspapers seem to fill you in on the main points, but seem to leave out the pieces of information that we want to find out more about, and have the most importance.
I think some media gives falsehoods about some cultures, they don't give us the right information that we need to make our views on the world.

The media has a huge influence on people today because often only one side of the arguement is given. For exampe in magazines there is always a bias opinion on the subject matter. I think that the media needs to adapt to giving both sides of an arguement and not just one or the other. People tend to listen to what others around them are saying and this therefore does not allow them to give their own opinion because they might think what they are saying is wrong.

I think that is wrong for the media to have so power in the world today, especially that some areas of media are completely controlled by rich individuals. This means that it can be easily changed and manipulated towards certain pointes of view. Everyone possesses the freedom of opinion. When these opinions are influenced, unknowingly, by biased information, they become not so free.

I think that the media is way too biased for our own good. have you noticed how hardly anything is positive in the media? we're told the world's not perfect and its not but the media makes it look completely awful and forgets about all the good things. maybe if we actually celebrated the good things people would be much more happier and people wouldn't be so against each other. it's like celebrities, they're being praised one minute, the next they're being criticised for not wearing any make up. what a shocker! the only reason we care is because the media makes it look like we should care, so it does affect our views, that's an easy answer. as for global issues, i don't feel as informed as we should be, we deserve to know the truth, nice or not nice.
