We set up a video conference between Notre Dame High School, Norwich UK and Summit Country Day School, Cincinnati USA. We then gave some feedback to learn how to use video conferencing more in the future.
To view a recording of the video conference click here.
Our students shared ideas on what helps us learn better and what makes someone a really good teacher. We also used a blog post for students to type their opinions.
Have a look at these finished examples examples learn1 | learn2 | learn3 | learn4 | learn5 | learn6 .

Talk more and do more video conferencing with all different years of the school, or maybe do an exchange trip there?
I could hear and see the video very well. It is cool learning that other schools are like us in foreign countries. It would be good to use this technology with older students of ours and older students of theirs. Maybe a few children from our school could go to their school and some of their children could come to our school.
Yea I loved it ,itwas awesome . Hope we can do it again some time .It was strange to the Americans but fun I hope that we can do this again in the future or exchange trip.
1. Were you able to see and hear the conference ok?

For all students in the schools can have pen pals but instead video conversation pals in the other schools in the other countries.
Hi, yes I was able to see and hear the conference properly and totally enjoyed it. I learned that school life in a foreign country like Cincinnati is quite similar to us here in Norwich, UK.I think video conferencing could be used more often in a lesson like Geography, as it will probably be easier for students to understand things about other countries better.

We could do a foreign exchange with the other school to see how the other school lives. Looks like and people could live in the other person’s house like for 2 weeks then go to the other person’s school. So like it seems like they are living in the other country.
1.Were you able to see and hear the conference ok?
Most of the time yes but sometimes there would be a pause
2. What did you learn about school life in a foreign country?
I learnt about what they thought makes a good teacher and the different types of sport they do and their favourite soccer teams, the uniform and what they wear out of school.
3. How could we use this technology more often?
Lessons from other countries like geography and history instead of looking in books we could have different languages taught like French lessons from France and also a pen pal system
what is your favourite animal?
1. Were you able to see and hear the conference ok?
Yes it was fine.
2. What did you learn about school life in a foreign country?
That there time and uniform is different. Also there interests and what they learn.

We could try to use it more often, or even try a country further away.
4. Can you think of other ways that our schools could work together
We could try to use it more often in our I.C.T lessons, or we could email some of the children there.
My Question is:
How long is school for?
Hi, I thought that conference was ‘TOTALLY AWSOME’ I hope we could try and do an exchange trip or something. I thought what I learnt about you is really cool. What T.V programmes do you have? Do you have MSN?
1 .Yeh! Dude it was really clear and I could hear it really well.
2 . You are 5 hours behind us and you have a really big soccer stadium
Which is really awesome.
3. You could teach us some lesson that you tech in America
4 Online pen pal to help each other with homework.
Hi, I thought talking and listening to you was great. I learned more about you. I would love to do video conferencing with again and then maybe we could talk more about ourselves and our countries.
If we did video conferencing with each other more often we could move on from that and then have individual pen-pals. I would have liked to have asked you about music, films and clothes.

Were you able to see and hear the conference ok?
Yes I could hear it ok.
2. What did you learn about school life in a foreign country?
That they are five hours behind us. And they don’t have a lot of choice for what to do in P.E. And they don’t have a lot of different things to do like us.
3. How could we use this technology more often?
They could teach us a lesson with the other schools with our schools name(Notre Dame High School) IN DIFFERENT Lessons like, French I.C.T, SPANISH.
4. Can you think of other ways that our schools could work together on?
have online pen pals from other countries.
Hey that was cool, but as Americans say (no offence meant in any way) it was narley! Your school seems cool and interesting, they sort off seem the same as English schools but different as well. We could hear and see it so well and the class obviously really enjoyed talking to some really cool people! I think that we should talk to you every i.c.t lesson (once a week), because that would be cool and then we would get to know more about you. Life over here so different to yours (well kinda), I think that we should get involved in the same sort of charity work so then we could put all the money we raised together and make loads of money. Also in a couple of years or months we could do foreign exchange students for a week, so that we get to see what life is like in different countries, also if we did something like a pen pal / email pals so that would help keep our schools in contact. One question I have is what time do you start and finish school?
hi i play rugby for a team rugby is like american football
That conference was really cool and so easy to see and hear! Life in a foreign country is very different and also more interesting (not saying that it’s totally boring in England)!! I think it would be really cool to have this quite often such as once a fortnight and make sort of email pals (instead of pen pals). As I said emailing each other quite often and asking lots of questions would be quite cool and discussing people’s interests and dislikes and all sorts of stuff might help our schools to keep contact! One question id like to ask is if you watch dr. who and if so do you like it as I personally love it!
1.Were you able to see and hear the conference ok?
Yeah it was cool
2. What did you learn about school life in a foreign country?
It is kind of the same and it didn’t seem too different
3. How could we use this technology more often? not just have it on in just 1 lesson like in maths tech and other lessons not just ict so we can see there other lessons and they can see ours
4. Can you think of other ways that our schools could work together?
We could get taught there lessons and they could get taught there’s in a video Conversation
5. do you have msn or any chatting sites like that
6. do you like web games
7. I have a psp do you have any game consoles
Congratulations to all of you at Notre Dame High School, Norwich and the Summit Country Day School in Cincinnati–yes you were awesome.
I appreciate the time and effort that you put into this exchange–and we all learned something from it. Thanks for your ideas about future exchanges.
Special thanks to your teachers for their work in preparing you for the exchange. We will do it again!

I was able to see the conference fine.
I am a school teacher in Pennsylvania and found your project while looking for some ideas for my classroom.
What a great example of how we as teachers can integrate technology and make what we teach real!
I mentioned your project at my blog, mhs229.blogspot.com.
